Stacey Agnew is an industry partner of EQUA Simulation AB of Sweden, and use their specialist tunnel ventilation software, IDA Tunnel. We use IDA Tunnel for our own consulting work and provide practitioner level support to other IDA Tunnel users.
IDA Tunnel is the next generation of simulation software for tunnel ventilation and smoke management. IDA Tunnel simulates the thermo-physics of incompressible airflows (not for high speed train tunnels) within underground road or rail tunnel networks including;
- Vehicle piston effects;
- Heat loads, and heat transfer to ground and other tunnels with prediction of long term accumulated ground conditions;
- Smoke movement in fire events;
- Transport of gaseous species such as pollutants and water vapour;
- Natural ventilation and stack effects;
- Effect of ventilation elements such as axial and jet fans and Saccardo nozzles, and;
- Aerodynamic interaction with connected structures such as stations or stacks.
One unique feature of IDA Tunnel and RTV is the ability to fully integrate system control functionality into the ventilation models.
