Perth Busport replaced the ageing Wellington Street Bus Station by moving operations underground.  In doing so it allowed the key thoroughfares of King and Queen streets to reconnect Perth to Northbridge.

The facility is comprised of four distinct areas:

  • The lounge, the public waiting area for the Perth Busport which connects via stairs and escalators to three separate passenger entry portals spread evenly along the lounge,
  • The bus circulation zone (BCZ), a unidirectional oblong busway which surrounds the lounge,
  • Tunnel 7, a straight bi-directional tunnel connecting the western bus entry to the north-western corner of the BCZ,
  • Tunnel 8, a bi-directional tunnel connecting the eastern (Wellington St) bus entry to the south-western corner of the BCZ, with an approximate 90° turn along its length.

Stacey Agnew were engaged to perform testing of the tunnel ventilation system and smoke testing for the tunnels and BCZ.
