The Inner Northern Busway (INB) is a transport facility consisting of bi-directional bus tunnels and an underground station. It is located in the CBD of Brisbane, Australia and it opened in May 2008. Numerous ventilation design challenges were faced for normal (pollution) and emergency (smoke) ventilation. The final ventilation design solution was an integrated system that accommodated pollution removal from the bus tunnel and smoke exhaust for the bus tunnel and building spaces. This paper describes the challenges faced, design solutions, analysis, and commissioning.
